United Devaluing Miles

unitedStarting February 3rd, United’s awards changed, essentially devaluing their miles for many types of flights – mostly overseas. Luckily (I guess), it doesn’t really affect me since I haven’t been overseas since 1986. 🙁

Or at least I don’t think it will. While the number of miles needed to fly to Canada hasn’t changed, I might find that there are fewer saver seats available. If that’s the case it could very much affect me – costing me 50,000 miles/trip vs. 25,000. We’ll see. Having flown home three times in as many weeks over the holidays, I’m hoping not to have to go back until this summer!

Here’s a link to their new Award Chart.
