Net Worth Spreadsheet

net worth spreadsheetYou don’t need to be a spreadsheet wizard to do this. All you need is two columns – description and amount. In the first column type ASSETS and underneath add a line for each of your assets (home, bank account, 401K, stocks…). In the second column type in the value of each asset. At the bottom of the list total your assets by typing =SUM(first cell:last cell) where “first cell” and “last cell” are the actual cells of your list of amounts.

Skip a couple of lines and in the first column type LIABILITIES and underneath add a line for each of your liabilities (mortgage, HELOC, credit card debt, car loan…). In the second column type in the amount of each liability. At the bottom of the liability list total them by typing =SUM(first cell:last cell) where “first cell” and “last cell” are the actual cells of your list of liability amounts.

Then substract the liability total from your asset total. Keep track of the amount at the end of each year and watch your growing heap. 😉

Alternatively, search the web for a free Excel spreadsheet template. Many abound.
