Here’s yet another reason to learn how to cook. Most states charge a tax on prepared food and beverages.
There are virtually no exceptions as to where you purchase the food. If it’s prepared, prepare to pay taxes on it. Most food in a grocery store is exempt, except for the prepared food you find in the deli. If I remember correctly, the rotisserie chickens in Costco are taxed.
OK – I’m willing to pay for that!
